The Supreme Court....

The confirmation process for John Roberts to the Supreme Court should be interesting to say the least. I don't think there's any doubt that the president wants to leave his conservative legacy imprint upon the country. He has nominated a man who has no paper trail of opinions, who will if he lives to a normal lifespan be on the Court 25-30 years.

Chances are that this will not be the only nomination that Bush will be making. The Chief Justice with his health problems probably will not live to the end of 2008. Others on the Court are also aging to the point of retirement. We could possibly see Bush have two more opportunities to fill vacant spots.

For my younger audience, this is something that should concern you. The lifestyle that you lead could very well be affected by the decisions made in the next few months. I urge you to contact your Senators with your opinions on this and other nominations. Make your voices heard.

Gretchen, I'll respond to your first comment here and the 2nd one in a post later tonight.

I won't give an example other than you should show your concern for the country. I think all opinions should be heard even if they differ from mine. If you as a female are concerned with your future reproductive rights, tell them. If you as a human are concerned about our future civil rights, tell them.

You seem to be able to communicate well and I'm sure they would appreciate hearing from you. Let's face it, you're a future voter!
